City of Lights
City of Bones
separated by coin’s edge.

Beneath streets paved
with enlightened lovers –
skulls, femurs, ribs,
of six million
ancient light-dwellers
disassembled, stacked,
arranged just so,
in rows and columns
of unnatural uniformity,
interred by wolves
of forgotten lore,
sought by hounds
lured by mystery
shaded shadows
in endless miles
of unmapped tunnels
knitted into a foundation
reinforced by spectral threads
unwillingly donated
by lost cataphiles
shrieking in darkness.
